AOP Evidence
Event Evidence
Increase, Oxidative Stress
In a study of the effects of aluminum treatment on rat kidneys, Al Dera (2016) found that renal GSH, SOD, and GPx levels were significantly lower in the treated groups, while lipid peroxidation levels were significantly increased.
Occurrence, Kidney toxicity
Al Dera (2016) investigated the alteration in kidney functioning in rats treated with aluminum and found that serum urea and serum creatinine levels were both significantly increased by treatment with aluminum, while urine creatinine and creatinine clearance were both significantly decreased by aluminum treatment. All of these markers indicate the occurrence of kidney failure (Al Dera, 2016).
